How they differ
VK2735 and tirzepatide both target the GIP and GLP-1 receptors, which puts them in the same mechanistic class — unusual in a catalogue where most comparisons hinge on differing receptor coverage.
The separation is developmental rather than mechanistic. Tirzepatide has completed its pivotal programmes and is marketed. VK2735 is in earlier trials, and notably is being developed in both subcutaneous and oral forms, which is uncommon for a peptide of this size.
For reference work, tirzepatide has far more published data to compare against; VK2735 has correspondingly little.
