Mechanism of Action
The one-way aperture in the lid allows insertion of sharps but prevents accidental contact with deposited items. The rigid polypropylene walls (minimum 2mm thickness) resist puncture from standard gauge needles including 18G-31G commonly used in research settings. The red colour and biohazard symbol provide universal identification. When the container reaches the fill line (approximately 75% capacity), the locking lid mechanism engages permanently for safe disposal through appropriate waste management channels.
