Overview

TB-500 is a synthetic version of the naturally occurring 43-amino-acid peptide Thymosin Beta-4 (Tβ4), originally isolated from the thymus gland. Thymosin Beta-4 is one of the most abundant intracellular peptides and plays a central role in actin polymerisation. TB-500 reproduces the active region of Tβ4 responsible for cell migration and has been studied in preclinical contexts for its potential roles in tissue repair, anti-inflammation, and cardiac function.

Mechanism of Action

TB-500 acts primarily through sequestration of G-actin monomers, promoting actin polymerisation and cytoskeletal reorganisation essential for cell migration. It upregulates the expression of actin, which facilitates the movement of endothelial cells and keratinocytes to injury sites. Research also indicates anti-inflammatory activity through downregulation of pro-inflammatory cytokines and chemokines, alongside promotion of new blood vessel formation via VEGF-mediated pathways.

  • Cell migration and tissue remodelling studies
  • Cardiac tissue repair research in preclinical models
  • Anti-inflammatory pathway investigation
  • Wound healing and dermal repair research
